Vitality: Conquering Fears and Healing a Soul
Four and a half years ago Amanda Sullivan was hit by a car-twice. The accidents occurred in a matter of weeks and the injuries that Amanda suffered were life altering (and life threatening). She injured everything from her head to her toes, had severe brain injuries and found herself stuck in a wheelchair with little-to-no hope. Since the day that Amanda Sullivan was introduced to ViSalus her life has never been the same. Despite having to deal with obstacles that most people will never have to face in their lifetime, Amanda is now preparing to go to Vitality- something she never thought would be possible just a few years ago.
This tragedy happened to an individual who had devoted her life to helping others, an individual who was spending her time in South America helping children in orphanages amongst many other charitable endeavors. Sometimes life doesn’t make sense- in this case it didn’t. How could such terrible things happen to such a good person?
For years after the accidents Amanda struggled, Amanda suffered, Amanda even thought about ending it all. She was told that her muscle atrophy would be so severe that she’d never walk again and likely would never be able to return to her charitable work in third world countries because of her ‘disabilities’. While Amanda still struggles with the multitude of injuries she sustained, life has completely changed her for- in a good way.
After participating in The Tunnel to Towers 5k run and walk (which will be discussed at length in another article), Amanda met a ViSalus Promoter who was so inspired by her determination that he gave her free product. A week after starting to take the product Amanda was starting to feel better, was able to stop taking some of her medications and most importantly, was starting to “heal her soul”. As Amanda points out, “The most important part of my recovery can’t be measured by my blood work, a CAT Scan, a scale- the most important part is the recovery of my soul. After getting on the Body by Vi Challenge I realized I didn’t hate my life because I was in a wheelchair, I was so unhappy because I had lost my passion and the light in my soul.”
Amanda Sullivan is now preparing to attend Vitality in Orlando a week from today. Since the accidents she hasn’t traveled on a plane- for a period of time she didn’t think she could do it. These days Amanda is certain of her capabilities but also a bit scared of the concept of flying all the way to Orlando by herself. While she may be a little scared of the uncertain, there is no way she is going to let that hold her back from going to the biggest event of the year, hosted by the company that ‘saved her life.
We all have struggles that we deal with and obstacles in our lives that can make fully committing to something difficult- such as traveling to Vitality or even joining the Body by Vi Challenge. What we need to remember, and Amanda is the perfect example of this, is that life isn’t always easy, but the choices you make and the effort you put into it can make a tragic situation an inspiring success story.
Amanda has accomplished so much in the last year that it’s impossible to fit it all in one article, which is why we’ll be posting a series of articles that documents her story, her struggles, her tips and her triumphs.
With Vitality just a week away, it’s time to reflect and think about what’s holding you back from committing to something, attending this event- whatever it may be that could drastically improve your life. If you’re still uncertain if you can make it to Vitality, think of Amanda Sullivan. Think about how ViSalus has impacted your life. For Amanda, there is no doubt as to how ViSalus has impacted her life, “ViSalus literally saved my life, it gave me self-confidence, it gave me health, it gave me strength.”
If you’re heading to Vitality or just considering it, think of how ViSalus has improved your life, think of how it’s improving others’ lives- think of how someone like Amanda Sullivan is overcoming so much just to attend this event. Amanda understands the importance of this event because she has reflected on how The Challenge has changed her life. Not only will Amanda be attending Vitality, but she will also be walking across the stage as a Body by Vi finalist.
Now it’s your turn to reflect- how has The Challenge changed your life and how could attending Vitality even further that positive impact?
